wow. this was genuinely unsettling. So many subtle moments that created actual feelings of dread. This is a testament to Shirley Jackson’s writing.

I lovedddd that Merricat was an unreliable narrator. As a reader it was fun trying to filter out the paranoia from her interactions.

There is so much about this book that I want to write about here but I won’t because it will be too long. But such a great book. loved it.
