Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon
3.0
3.5 maybe? Listen, it’s Sidney Sheldon. The books are pure, vacation-level fluff filled with terrible people doing awful things. But his ability to tell stories across generations is really entertaining and he knows how to write page turners. There’s something fascinating about a book this size, where at one point he can describe a setting for pages and pages and then introduce a character, have them fall in love and wed, and then tragically die all in 4 pages. Some problematic stuff here that doesn’t pass the test of time, but still pretty wild and fun to think this was one of the top books of 1982. Couldn’t put it down.
