I wasn't aware this was a YA novel when I requested it from my library, had I known I likely wouldn't have chosen it.
Mallory has a history with chess, and her reasons for walking away from it some years before are gradually revealed. Nolan is the young, attractive chess champion she meets when she agrees to help a friend by playing a tournament for charity.
Mallory realises she can earn significant money to help her struggling family, but at what cost? Lies and dishonesty end up catching her out, will Nolan and Mallory get their happy ever after?
This was an OK read, a little too chess-heavy for me to really enjoy it, and I'm way past the age of being able to relate to the characters, but it was fine for a cold Sunday afternoon
