HOLY HELL. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD EMILY, WHAT WAS THAT CLIFFHANGER?! ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£ it’s only january, but I swear this book may honestly make it onto my best of 2024 list, it was just that good.
from the very beginning, I was sucked in. Huntyr is that girl. she’s everything I love in an FMC — headstrong, unrelenting, calculating, but still compassionate and loyal to those she cares for. she was raised to be a weapon first, to put the mission before herself. sent to infiltrate the Golden City, an exclusive and sequestered society of angels and magical fae, she first has to survive the Moira Seminary. it’s the first step in a long and deadly process to weed out of those who the angels deem weak and worthy, and Huntyr has no choice but to navigate this treacherous academy and survive.
all that starts to come into question when she’s forced to room with the fallen angel, who both infuriates & excites her. Wolf Jasper 🤠don’t even get me started!!! I don’t know how Huntyr didn’t beg this man to kiss her immediately bc that would have been my first reaction, and second and third, and you get the drift. he’s the perfect broody, mysterious MMC, oozing with irresistible charm & cockiness. I love everything about him, from the grey hues in his feathery black angel wings to his curly dark hair. and the nickname, Huntress? are you kidding me?! swoon!
unfortunately for my new fav book bf and his Huntress, things are not all that they seem at the seminary, and Huntyr is torn between her pull to Wolf and her desire to complete her mission. danger lurked around every corner for these two, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat. I loved the world that this author’s created, blending celestial mythologies and magics with more commonly used fae and vampyre fantasy elements. it felt like such a fresh and unique twist on my beloved romantasy tropes.
and like I said… THAT ENDING. I quite literally could not believe it. I sat stunned, staring at my screen, trying to figure out how I was supposed to go on the next couple of months waiting for book 2 😥 incredible storytelling.
Thank you to Emily and LBC Reads for providing me with eARC of this book to give my honest review!
