The Pigeon by Patrick Süskind

3.0

It was a rough start, but it grew on me. The depiction of anxiety throughout the book was interesting, including how the character sometimes experienced dissociation, and overstimulation irritability. I am curious about the significance of how he as a child feared being alone (apparently) but then lived an isolated life in adulthood. The ending did settle though, with him showing some child-like wonder (maybe his waking up and regressing into the childhood memories signified the literary change at the end of the book of Jonathan's childlike wonder?).
