Vampire's Fledgling by Helen Scott, Helen Scott
Did not finish book.
WHAT THE F*CK HAPPENED HERE?!
If you look at my review of the first book, VAMPIRES NEST, you saw that I was very pleased and intrigued about this series. I couldn’t wait for book two to be available. I almost pre-ordered it because I couldn’t wait for book two to drop.
I’m so glad I didn’t because, Honey… this second book is a hot mess. I stopped torturing myself at 53%.
The story picked up where it left off however, I can’t help but feel I have no idea about who these characters are. They have no origin and even though they are characters, it’s as if they’re made of smoke… no substance. They are one dimensional and flat as fuck.
We still have no idea about this secret society that Rook apparently belongs to.
Well, OK… let me be fair… I didn’t get that far. Why?! Because I simply do not care about this story anymore! This story is taking way too long to develop this story!
As if the flat-assed characters weren’t bad enough, the author decided to turn this into a Reverse Harem by thrusting a threesome scenario on us.
I had to stop and flip to the front of the book to see if there was a trigger warning I missed.
There wasn’t.
Funny… I didn’t sign up to read an RH story. So, why was I blindsided into reading one? Complete waste of my time! I should have known when it took me three days to finish this. As I had to keep coming back and force myself to read it. Never again.
I won’t be finishing this series as I’m totally turned off by it. Note to author: A TW at the beginning or in the book description would have been helpful. I’m so happy I didn’t preorder it because if I had, I would definitely seek a refund.
Read at your own peril.
