Faithful Place by Tana French
4.0
This book made me leave my purse on the bus. I was trying to read as much as possible before my stop, then I jumped off so fast I left it there. (Luckily I was able to jump back and get it.) The next day I almost missed my train stop. Obviously, I was enthralled.
That said, I should admit that those particular times wasn't because the story itself was so gripping--although it's very well done as is all Tana French. It was that halfway through the book something happened to the main character that made me so angry on his behalf I literally spent the rest of the book fantasizing revenge scenarios. This was unfortunate since the themes of the book were moving us more toward the idea that it was a good thing for the character, in large part because of this murder investigation, was able to forgive people. Also as a parent he's all about protecting his 9-year-old daughter and not rip her a new one as I would have preferred.
Still, I would highly recommend the book itself since I can only assume not everyone has this same button to push.
