Recursion by Blake Crouch

I cannot remember the last time I devoured a book in the way that I devoured this one. Look, it’s easy to gobble up a light and breezy paperback in 1-2 days. But that’s not what this is. It is not light or breezy. It has a mind-blowing premise and one that I didn’t think would have created a lot of content. But it did. Listen, everyone has described it so you probably get the idea what it’s about. Recreating old memories while maintaining the same outcome. But is that really possible? I’m here to tell you, as a non-sci-fi reader, this book was amazingly complex, but at the same time tender and soft. Somehow Crouch was able to blend a love story with grief, violence, opulence and mayhem and make it make sense. I am not a huge fan of this genre because I need EVERYTHING to make sense. Now, I won’t lie...I had to go back and re-read several pages, until it made sense. But somehow I didn’t get frustrated. The author has a way of soften the blows of the brain-twisting subject matter and he makes the reader feel like a quantum physicist! Ha!

I was teetering between 4.5 and 5 stars. But hell, this book is more than a 5 star book. If for no other reason than the fact that he forces you to imagine what life would be like if we could choose to live certain chapters of our lives all over again. But mainly because I was entertained and I completely shut out the entire world for two days.

Get this book, free your mind and enjoy the ride!!
