A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas
3.0
A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT
Author: Sarah J Maas
Year: 2018
Synopsis: Swipe right to read
Review:
Plot: This book is a novella (a short novel) that centers on the Winter Solstice celebrations in the Night Court. All the inner circle and a few other lucky people are reunited to spend the holidays together and it was lovely seeing (almost) all of them in perfect harmony. But at the same time, I felt like the plot could have been a bit more focused on one day or one event in particular, rather them showing quick glimpses of everyone's lives around that time. I expected it to focus more on Feyre and Rhys, I believe, and it left me a bit disappointed.
Writing: The first three books were all written from Feyre's POV, but from ACOFAS on they shifted to multiple perspectives and 3rd person writing. It took me some time to get used to it, but once I did, I enjoyed the change and the insights that it'll give me about other characters.
Characters: I love all of them so much and I'd love to spend one Winter Solstice celebration with them! My heart was filled of joy for Feyre and Rhys, happy to see Elain recovering, Amren in love and broken by Nesta's pain.
Overall: It's a cute book, but not more than that. Ideally, read it over Christmas time!
Favorite quote: "She had always been drawn to the untamed, wild things of the world".
Soundtrack: Let It Snow, by Frank Sinatra
