I understand why Lily King isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but she is mine. This story is just a moment in time - it could be a moment in anyone’s life. If could be yours or mine, but it happens to be Casey’s. While Euphoria is a bit more plot driven, this is similar, with the same feeling of ephemera. But, this is also probably the most intimate understanding of a character I’ve ever had. I felt her anxiety, fatigue, grief, panic, dread, hope, and ultimate relief with her in step. And all that feeling happens within King’s beautifully simple sentences. I fell into this book and am floating having finished it.
