Princess Floralinda and the Forty-Flight Tower by Tamsyn Muir

adventurous funny fast-paced

5.0

This was an incredibly unique novella, which subverts classic fairytale tropes and is written in a way that is so wonderfully hilarious. I couldn't get enough of it! The writing style almost reminds me of a children's fairytale, but it is far from it. From having to make clothes by skinning a dead rat, to dealing with murderers, to almost being strangled by a siren, this story doesn't shy away from the grit of surviving life as a princess stuck in a tower. I adored Floralinda, and I really enjoyed the ending as well. I also knew I was going to enjoy the audiobook, as I loved Moira Quirk's narration of The Bone Houses and The Drowned Woods by a different author. I highly recommend this, especially the audiobook, where you'll get around four hours of amazing entertainment (also, it's part of the plus catalogue on Audible, at least as of right now)!
