Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers by Grant Naylor
4.0
This was amazing. If you are a fan of the first few seasons of the show, you should really like this book. It is a much more detailed version of episodes 1: The End, 2: Future Echoes, 6: Me Squared, 7: Kryten, and 8: Better than Life. If you are not familiar with the show, think of a cruder but possibly funnier version of Douglas Adams.
The audiobook is fantastic. Chris Barrie reads it, and does the best impressions of Lister, Kryten and Holly that you will ever hear. You won't believe that it's not the original actors. Chris even does a decent job of using a slightly different voice for the narrator than he does for his own character, Rimmer.
The only downside is that it is just too long. The audiobook is over 8 hours long. The shows benefit from being trimmed. What really got to me was when the author would go on and on about what a terrible person Rimmer was and what a terrible life he had. There were three separate occasions where it went for about 20 minutes tearing Rimmer to pieces. It went from funny past pathetic and right to just plain annoying. It nearly got me to give up listening. Aside from that, it was a joy to listen to these stories.
