Warheart by Terry Goodkind
3.0
Aaaaaaand Goodkind has lost me again. I am struggling with this one. I'm still in denial that this series continued after the fabulous ending back at [b:Confessor|604803|Confessor (Sword of Truth, #11)|Terry Goodkind|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1442796715s/604803.jpg|1025414]. Although, after the way Severed Souls ended I was really hoping for a grand finale, but so far Warheart has not met my exceedingly high expectations. If you're going to continue a story that has already left readers with some kind of peace or closure, then the continuation better be mind-blowing and sadly, this hasn't been.
Most of the writing has felt rushed to me, like Goodkind wasn't putting in the effort to create anything with literary sustenance. I just find myself being bored and unable to find the motivation to continue reading. Honestly, at this point, I'm only finishing the book because it's the last one in a series that all of us have already dedicated so much time and heart into.
Anyways, rant over about all that.
More review to come if the second half of the book starts getting any better.

Can also express how absolutely enraged I am about Cara's death! Essentially, Goodkind has been plotting for this for a little while now, ever since Meiffert's untimely death. And then, he distances her from the reader so we start to, hopefully, feel less attached to her so she can sacrifice herself for Richard. But I'm sorry! She's been with us for BOOKS AND BOOKS now. I would sooner lose my attachment to Nicci than I would my love for Cara! I know, of all the deaths maybe I'm being a little melodramatic about Cara's. I could accept Zedd's death, I even accepted Richard's death and for awhile assumed that was how the series ended! But Cara?! It just felt like a cop-out to me for some reason. Like she was treated as an extra, a means to an end so that Richard could once again magically evade death.More review to come if the second half of the book starts getting any better.
