This is a fascinating and brilliant play - but I think only if one sees it live. Reading it makes it really difficult to imagine how it would be staged (fortunately there are some YouTube videos that give a sense of it). But the origin story of this play and the themes are really intriguing. I love the way Vogel weaves it all together - from HUAC to the lesbian love story to Yiddish theatre.
