This book was a lot of fun and I was honestly surprised how much I enjoyed it. I buddy read it with my friend Victoria and it was fun theorizing what might happen.

I really enjoyed the main character Rosalie. She was raised as a daughter of Eville but she still had this hopefulness to her, wanting to find happiness. Everyone was so mean to her right off the bat because of her mother’s reputation and wouldn’t even give her an opportunity to prove them right or wrong. She’s immediately locked away and told to stay in her room. She’s like well I’m having none of that and because no one has seen her face she traipses around the castle pretending to be a servant. The only one privy to her secret is her maid Pru who initially was scared of her as well but took a liking to her fairly quick and is enthralled by her use of magic. I really loved the friendship they formed.

We also learn a little bit about Rosalie’s other sisters which there is a book for each of them. We even see a few of them later on in the book.

I was really getting into this book the further we got along in it. I do wish it was a little bit longer because as I was creeping to the end I was just like there’s not enough time for everything that needs to be done. I wish certain things took a little more time to get from point A to point B. I did like where the story took us in the end.

My only real complaint besides needing more time is I wanted more scenes between Rosalie and Xander.
I felt like he was mean to her more than he was nice and I wanted to buy that they were falling for each other. But he’ll literally be nice to her one moment and then be yelling at her the next. I just would have liked more nice scenes between them.
