I gave this five stars for sheer enjoyability. I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading it. If you are looking for a gut-wrenching WWII story, this is not it. It has some moments of tribulation, some heartache, but overall this is a sweet, heartwarming story with sweet, heartwarming characters and I couldn't help but root for all of them to get their sweet, heartwarming endings.

The epistolary format took me some getting used to. It took me longer than normal to feel familiar with each individual character, but I was able to get the hang of it and it didn't bother me in the long run.
