RUMAYSA: A FAIRY TALE
A hilarious and heartwarming collection that takes a fresh approach to well-known fairy tales: what if Rapunzel got sick of waiting and took matters into her own hands? What if Cinderella had higher standards for the love of her life? What if Sleeping Beauty had more screentime awake and a personality?
Poking fun at old tropes and continuously slapping readers with honest and relatable insights, Rumaysa is an equally funny and empowering tale of how three girls found solace and friendship in one another, propelling them to use wits and courage to find their way out of their respective predicaments. This is the kind of book I wish I had read as a child. I highly recommend to everyone and especially to those who enjoyed fairy tales but hoped heroines have had more agency, depth, and common sense than they were allowed.
