Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning by Timothy Snyder

5.0

Worth reading just for the conclusion. Snyder ends his exhaustive study of Nazi methodology by showing how Hitlerian thinking can be applied to our current global land space: everything from the Rwandan genocide to Chinese fears about food scarcity to Russian aggression in Ukraine and how our inability to respond to climate change with science could allow pernicious state actors to cast minority groups as the cause of a nation’s problems (like Hitler did with Jewish people.)

The whole book was genuinely horrifying and I cannot recommend it enough.
