Sorcery and Spells by Ciara Graves
fast-paced
- Strong character development? No
- Loveable characters? No
- Diverse cast of characters? No
3.0
What I liked:
It's easy to read and it's short enough to be read in a quick trip, or during commute time. It has witches, spells, demons, family feels and a second chance romance. It's fast paced, with short chapters that keep the story flowing.
Things I didn't liked:
I don't do well with stories that tell, tell tell and don't show much. Also, the "I broke up with you for your own good and refused to tell you the reasons" only works for me if the characters are teenagers, not adults in their mid to late twenties.
My other issue is with the magic system. It's kinda like "with a snap of my fingers I solve everything" and that's it. Maybe the author dives deeper in that aspect in the next books, but for now it felt very "deus ex machina"
What bothered me:
The ending. Calling it abrupt is an understatement. I'm no unfamiliar with cliffhanger endings, but this wasn't a cliffhanger. It felt more like reading a book with the last chapter missing
