Unlikely Love by Mona Black

i like slice of life and long journeys in my fantasy hence why i didn’t complain the first two books. i just don’t understand why the author didn’t do more with mfc character other than going into heat and being pregnant. ari trained her whole life with weapons. it makes no sense to not have moments of strength or evolve her powers. i don’t know why her bonding with the guys took like two weeks. why the heat had to come on so fast esp while they were dirty and stinky leading to really gross smut.

the pregnancy storyline was soooo boring. the whole book was about that. we never got to witness the war. just little glimpses and it was all about ari. this book and third one would’ve been a good time to utilize the men’s povs to explore the world since ari was in heat and/or pregnant for two books.

omegaverse in general leads omegas in such desperate situations. once again i get it. it’s the genre. i don’t get why build such an elaborate world and not explore it. we know nothing of the south lands and it’s politics. the characters don’t even know. it’s like what’s the point.

the characters barely get moments to just be and when they do it’s skipped. we get time jumps. i as the reader never get to enjoy their happy moments and it’s like whats the point. i don’t get to see them fall in love slowly i don’t get to explore the world and i don’t get to enjoy them having moments of peace. all i got was glimpses of everything leaving me frustrated.

there was so much potentional to explore all aspects of the characters the magic and the world and we lost it heat and pregnancy.

i think the author is capable of coming up with interesting concepts and usually starts well enough. easy to read too. the both series i’ve read of hers have lead me feeling like i’ve missed on exploration of the characters and the world she’s built. i will say i prefer this series to the of boys and beast one.

at end the day for both series the stories i got should have been standalones (a duology at most) not four book series.
