Once There Was a War by John Steinbeck

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! In the introduction, Steinbeck states that, due to heavy censoring and other factors, this work is not the most truthful depiction of what life was like while fighting in WII. That being said, I believe that reading this work in conjunction with other more honest and uncensored recounts of the war help bridge the truth and untruth of the realities of war and the ideas spread by the War Effort. I am looking forward to reading more Steinbeck soon.
