This is the first Tom Clancy branded book I read that someone else wrote and the first book by this author I've read. I enjoyed the story but have some thoughts about the book in general, none of which are good or bad but had some influence on my reading experience.

1) Tom Clancy's books generally have fewer but longer chapters while this was many shorter chapters. Not a bad thing for finding easy stopping points, but it felt like something was off.
2) While the detail is still pretty good, it felt a lot less meticulous than Tom Clancy's own writing.
3) Some of the focused details (character mannerisms) felt different enough.
4) This is the first time that John Clark makes a (chronological) appearance in the Jack Ryan universe since Without Remorse, and it was nice to see him again, even if his lethality was subdued compared to his previous appearance.

Overall it was a good story but there were things that I found myself noticing were different than previous Tom Clancy books I've read. Maybe it's because I'm reading the series chronologically that I am noticing these differences.
