Debut author, Alex Gino, is one of many individuals who has seen a lack of visibility for non-majority narratives in children’s literature. One of the groups that is significantly underrepresented is that of trans individuals. Working with LGBTQ author and advocate, David Levithan, as editor for the book, Alex presents “George” the story of a fourth grader who knows she is a girl even though the world thinks she is a boy.

This book is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. This is a story of identity and the message is simple. Be who you are.
