Admissions: A Memoir of Surviving Boarding School by Kendra James

informative reflective fast-paced

5.0

This book was a great look into racism, privilege, and white supremacy, specifically within the boarding school universe. Kendra James was great at painting her experience as a Black woman attending this boarding school and how it differed from her white peers - from everything from social events, to where to sit in the cafeteria, to applying for colleges. I attended and all-girls Catholic high school and while it obviously was not a boarding school, a lot of the information and experiences ran true. This book also read like more of a fiction book than a memoir, which I also really liked.
