A review by ryanberger
A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn
4.0
This book was extremely formative and important for my worldview.
While the people who think that Zirn can’t taken seriously because he’s so far left aren’t completely unfounded (America, while not a league of supervillains, is built with blood and even if you don’t believe it’s rotten to the core, it’s got a dark past it may never be able to shake) the whining in some of these poor reviews reaches radioactive levels of second-hand embarrassment.
What sparked this review? I saw a Tik Tok claiming for the ????? time that they don’t teach you shit like this in High School when I, and everyone else I know who read this book who is not from a town of 16 people, read this in high school. Maybe it’s a regional thing, I’m sure that’s part of it.
