I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The worldbuilding felt really solid with just enough answers and questions thrown into the mix. Some of the characters seemed flat, but those that did were at least side characters or at least weren't the main characters so it was fine. I thought the character names especially worked really well at least until the last 1/4 of the book. I wish the dwarves weren't all nordic names (the audiobook narrator pronounciation of Hrothgar broke me from the narrative a bit after the 3rd or 4th pronunciation but that's probably more of a me thing). Up until then, the names all felt uniformly fantasy world. This isn't a huge "no" for me, it just felt a bit out of place, especially at the end of the book.

I really like that Eragon and his dragon have a mental connection and can communicate and share their feelings/senses that way. I have a feeling that will come into play a lot more as the series progresses. Looking forward to reading the next book.
