Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett
3.0
I like moments from this book. I liked the dwarf playwright that seems to be channeling 1930s comedy films as he tries to create his next play. I liked arguably the most intimidating figure in existence walking onto a stage to play himself and getting stage fright. I liked the main characters interacting with the plays they watch at different points in the book.
I guess, to paraphrase, the play's the thing wherein the book caught the interest of this reader.
The rest, not so much. It takes a very long time to get to the parts I liked (and that's with the help of some time magic shortening the duration of events). The romantic subplot feels like it's there for padding because it goes no where and isn't wrapped up. And I just didn't find the main characters likeable. I didn't outright hate them like the some characters in books I've really disliked. I just didn't really care about them. Maybe that would have been different had I read the previous book with these characters before getting to this one. I don't know. All I know is that I'm probably going to leave the Witches series for last as I try to work my way through the rest of the Discworld series.
