A Kids Book about Grief: Kids Are Ready by Brennan C. Wood

I wish that I had this book when I was a kid experiencing the loss of my grandmother. Wood does a great job explaining grief, even touching on the fact that we can feel grief over more simple things than a death. I especially loved the graphic used to explain that grief is not linear and the rock metaphor used to explain how Wood feels grief.
A Kids Book About consistently puts out the best books on the market about tough and abstract topics, and this one is no exception. They handle the topics with no sugarcoating and no condescension, while still exploring the content in a safe and approachable manner. The use of basic typography and colors to convey mood and meaning work better than pictures ever could.
