It was an interesting read to start your year off. I had watched two film adaptations and now with the book read, I must say they captured the essence of this book very well. 
Nick feels like a watcher of the story and less of a character himself. It was interesting to see how he got more active at the end when things took turn. 
It was a fine book. Maybe I change my rating later when the book sank in a bit but for now it is a 3.75 to me.
