Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
4.0
“Be with me always - take any form - drive me mad! only do not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you! Oh, God! it is unutterable! I can not live without my life! I cannot live without my soul!”
So many people despise Heathcliffe in this novel and I suppose I can understand why but he has always been one of the most interesting characters I’ve ever read.
As for people that call this a “strict love story” you clearly aren’t reading the same book as me. Yes there is a love story between Catharine and Heathcliffe but I think the struggle for Heathcliffe to be accepted, for Cathy to accept herself and for the characters to grow and accept their fates is the ‘true’ story.
I could ramble on but I’d just be repeating myself over and over and making little to no sense about this book and why you should read it.
