The Third Revolution: Xi Jinping and the New Chinese State by Elizabeth C. Economy

3.0

While The Third Revolution is at times insightful for Western readers, Economy does play to her Western audiences a little too much by being overly critical of Chinese surveillance, state-controlled operations, and anti-democracy propaganda. It would've been more helpful for me to understand Xi Jinping's rationale behind his actions. This reads more like an outsider's perspective on what goes on behind closed doors.
