I am not sure the audience Montgomery had in mind for this book in the series. It touches on more mature topics, without actually talking about them in many cases. I love the complex story of Leslie, Dick and Owen. Capt Jim is one of my new favorite literary characters. As always the book is written in such a way it paints a beautiful picture, it's like poetry.
