The Kremlin's Candidate by Jason Matthews

4.0

This was a great finale to the Red Sparrow series. Matthews does a great job of building tension throughout the book and the plot twists never feel overdone or unbelievable. I really fell in love with the characters in this series and it was really rewarding to see them grow throughout.

This series also serves in part as a cookbook. Each episode always involves some character eating a meal, which always sounds delicious, and then the recipe is appended to the end of each chapter. It's kind of an odd thing, but I really enjoyed it, and the recipes are actually pretty great; I've tried a few of them myself and haven't been disappointed yet!

The ending to this book (and thus the series) was an interesting one. I can see why some people would hate it. I didn't necessarily expect the way everything wrapped up, but I also wasn't particularly surprised. I was relatively satisfied and am mostly just bummed out that it's finally over.

I expect I'll be rereading every book in this series again before too long.
4.5/5 stars.
