The Stars are Dying by Chloe C. Peñaranda

4.0

I took such a long time to write this review. Why? Well, honestly, it’s because I was confused about how I felt. I was of two minds. It started very strong, and I was hooked, but then it went on, and I never got any answers; just more confusion and doubt. I still liked it a lot, no doubt about that. I just wish things were a tiny bit clearer.

What I liked:
The plot! It was so well thought out. The characters were beautifully written. Nyte was the perfect shadow daddy, and Astrae's growth felt okay. She went through a lot, so I'll give her that. The angst was *chef’s kiss*. I can't wait to see how their story develops in the second book. But the best part was the ending. I mean, it was so good, and that’s a big reason why I'll continue the series.

Now, onto what I wasn't a fan of:
Mostly the pacing. I wish it picked up at some point before the ending. Also, as I said, I wish things were a bit clearer in terms of the backstory. I hope it's resolved in the second book.

Here are my reasons why you should read this:

♡ You like celestial beings.
♡ You like soul and blood vampires.
♡ You like deadly trials.
♡ You like villain gets the girl.
♡ You like slowburn.
♡ You like twists and betrayals.
