*ARC Review from September*
At multiple points in this book, I had to set my Kindle down and ask aloud, "what the f*ck is GOING ON?!" The ending plot twist had me questioning everything I read up to that point.. I may have to do a re-read to pick up on everything I missed.
The interactions between the FMC and MMC were heated, snarky, and intense; and at some points hilarious and sweet. These two serial killers truly match each other's energy. I also liked the multiple POVs that helped tie everything together at the end, even though it was super confusing at first to keep things straight; the story didn't always flow well, but part of that IS due to the plot twist at the end. And some of the scenes were hard to picture because of confusing descriptions.
I also have a couple issues with um, Lucius's method of unaliving people. Namely how he just... rips limbs off? Like a bear? This man has incredible strength that kinda left me wondering if it was going to be revealed that he was not exactly human.
And I know this was an ARC and things weren't finalized, but I found a few spelling errors- both of character names and homophone mix-ups (at one point a character "picked up a vile" not "vial").
That being said, PLEASE check the trigger warnings listed in the beginning. This dark romance is VERY dark. I will list them below, along with definitions (because I had to Google some of them myself).
