Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics by Dolly Parton

inspiring reflective fast-paced

4.0

a simple oral history of dolly parton's discography
following the audiobook with the physical book felt like walking through a museum of her life's journey, there's REALLY gorgeous photos and enough detail to each chapter but it's still a cookie cutter approach

i relate to her love for women, horny songs, graveyards, sticking to her guts and the butterfly effect. she is one of those earnest songwriters that make it easy to connect with on a human level (e.g jewel, dua lipa). honestly, 90% of the country references went over my head but the audio version played her songs in parts which married everything nicely

it's really comforting to listen to someone speak about their experiences from a place of ease and deep self-assurance; hope i'm as in love with life as she is when i get to her age
