I liked parts of this a lot - mostly all the music aspects, and I loved Ujima. I struggled a bit with the central romance, though. Quito is kind of a tough pov character - being in his head was pretty irritating. I found Emmett more interesting but rather underwritten - I think this might have worked better as a dual pov book. I don’t feel like I really understood what was going on with Emmett, even at the end.
