I honestly enjoyed reading this thus I'm still giving it 4 stars, but I hated that it also disappointed me.
First, Miles and Daphne together is so good. The chemistry was there. They get each other. They're great as friends even. So, I totally rooted for them. Both of them have have bad childhood that obviously affected them as adults. Miles having parents who only made him feel like he's a disappointment which later lead him to mistrust himself around people he loves. Daphne having moved around a lot as a kid, never having friends who stay for long, and a dad who left her again and again. Basically, abandonment issues. Then there's her ex who also left her. So we have two hurt souls, trying to fix whatever it was and they did find that comfort with each other, as roommates and as friends. Everything was great until that one chapter. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I love and absolutely adored Miles. I liked that he's always shown interest in everything Daphne, because she needed that. For someone to be as interested to her because everyone always ever only seem to leave. That one scene after they basically put it all out there, the sex and then being all giddy and Miles talking to her about how it's not her fault that people kept leaving... and then the next day, he left. HE LEFT. And for who? Petra! The ex-girlfriend. It was so anti-climactic. Like okay, he didn't cheat, but he did the worst that he could ever do to Daphne, to leave without saying a word. She has had enough of that from her father, and I hated that he did the exact same thing to her. And the worst thing is he knew that and saw it firsthand. There was more explanation on why he left... but it didn't really change much for me. I was still disappointed. I feel like Daphne let him out of that one fairly easy.
Anyways, it's still a good read overall thus the rating, if not only for that one chapter.
