The Marriage Bargain: A Variation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice by Lucy Marin

3.5

I wish the climax of the book had occurred at around 50% instead of over 75% of the way in. Darcy’s awful behavior to Elizabeth went on for way too long. He was a coward and a cad, which would have been fine if we had seen him really get low and spend a lot of time earning his way back in the second half. But he didn’t really seem to have to earn it in this variation and the romance wasn’t as poignant as I would have liked it to be.
