More and more Iโm becoming a sucker for a man who adores a woman from the start and waits for her to be ready. And Matt was definitely that guyโฆ to the max.
๐ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: Next to You by Helena Bonham Young
๐ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Next character series. Book 2.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐: Listened on Hoopla app.
๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฟ๐ฒ: Contemporary romance
๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐: Friends-to-lovers, just this once, he falls first, mental health rep, grief journey, found family, forced proximity.
๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ป๐ผ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐: During a particularly vulnerable night, Laine buys a bus to restore and live on. She asks for help from one of her best friends, Matt, who has been patiently waiting for a chance from Laine for years.
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐: Whew this book was heavvvyyyy, but the quiet Samoan with a penchant for reading might be my one of my favorite MMCs of the year.
Laine was a great female character. Usually, I get really frustrated when FMCs get in their own way over and over again, but Laineโs vulnerability and the way that she continually protected Matt made my heart all gooey.
Matt, though. The guy knew what he wanted and never wavered. This is one of those books I would literally kill for a dual POV, because I bet his would be excellent.
The Next series was my final stop on HBY books, and each one had been better than the last. I love them all - sheโs definitely become a one-click author for me.
