This book was nicely written, but sort of bland. I had a very difficult time understanding the main character, who seemed unaware of and incapable of doing just about everything in life. I couldn't relate to her relationship with her daughter, having never had that type of relationship with mine, even during the teenage years. I really didn't get Helen's response to the surprise twist. Tough to like a book when the characters were so foreign to me.
