Hands down my favorite Abby Jiminez book to date. Another hilarious, poignant and emotional romantic comedy. Jiminez has this magical ability to balance witty banter with utterly hard conversations to create the perfect couple formula that I will keep coming back to again and again. This book is for fans of fake dating schemes and those who love to see the more real and bumpy side of the blossoming of a new romantic relationship.
I absolutely ate up the full circle moment where these characters found themselves in the Jiminez universe; these easter eggs are my favorite part of her books. I loved revisiting old friends and places alongside meeting a new set of characters.
The mental health representation in Abby Jiminez’s novels is phenomenal. In this book, the character’s descriptions of their anxiety and trauma responses gut punched me. I am not an emotional reader, in fact, the last time I cried reading a book was Yours Truly, also by Jiminez. I attribute this to how deeply I resonated with these characters’ very real struggles.
A study in romantic comedy that gives you the real grit of relationship building.
