Berserk, Vol. 1 by Kentaro Miura
5.0
First thoughts, ‘What in the hell did I just read?’
After years of hearing about how great Berserk is, I opened volume one to witness The Black Swordsman having sex with appears to be a demon. To say I’m confused is an understatement.
After sleeping and killing this possible demon, the Black Swordsman enters a town, demands the minions working for a tyrant to announce his arrival to the tyrant. All the while, the man is suffering from the classic “I’m a disease” syndrome that plagues male leads. The lack of emotions exhibited by The Black Swordsman is felt by Puck, an adorable elf, that finds himself following The Black Swordsman.
Berserk is a gore-infested and violent-driven manga and a protagonist plagued by various demons, personal and physical.
To summarize, I’m confused and have no idea what is going on, but I’m going to keep reading because I’m a sucker for gore.
*Five star rating because of the gore.
