The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There by Catherynne M. Valente
4.0
I’ve been dipping in and out of this audiobook from my library (borrowbox) over the last week. Unfortunately, this one isn’t read by Valente so it’s not as energetic a reading. I quite enjoyed her zippy, witty wording.
That said, this narrator is still decent and she’s able to do a bunch of interesting voices, but she’s a much calmer reader with a soft narrator voice.
The story itself is still full of adventure and various characters. I enjoyed the idea of shadows and world beneath. The Goblin was also a wonderfully lyrical character!
I just didn’t feel September was as captivating a character as she was in Circumnavigated. Again, that might be because she sounded like a scared little girl, the way the narrator read her.
