I guess this book nailed a gothic atmosphere pretty well, but the hook of the story left me feeling kinda dirty and depressed. I didn't really like any of the characters. It's well-written, so that things feel claustrophobic and uncanny even when nothing is happening, but I wish the author's skills were better utilized than on this particular story.

Overall, there was more bad than good, in my opinion.
