I’m not usually one to read monster romance but after seeing this everywhere on my book groups I thought I would give it a try. Within a few pages I’m hooked on the story line but can’t help the audible gasp and shout of “what do you mean it has suckers and tencles!!!!” 😳.
My immediate reaction was to pity Creed for what the facility is doing to him but then he made the kid cry just because and I definitely felt less sorry for him; that’s without mentioning the murders of the townsfolk.
Weirdly I started warming up to him around the time he kills hick-dead Daniel. A tad extreme but definitely deserved. 🔔🔚
So, Demi seemed fairly normal at first. Even a little boring but when she receives her “gift” you start realising that she’s almost as messed up as Creed.
Right! The bath water was one thing but putting it in her lotion… 💦🧴 At this point I thought my eyebrows would be stuck in my hairline by the time hit 50%
This isn’t my first stalker and it’s far from my first somno encounter but drugging the tea to smash her while she’s unconscious is just a step too far for me personally. It’s goes from being kinda hot in a red flag sort of way with the cameras, to being majorly psychotic and almost delusional when he takes her virginity.
Again I can’t help the cringe when the tentacles come into play; pun intended 🦑. And when she mentioned talons near Demi’s sensitive bits I’m sure my vagina sealed itself shut, just in case!
Demi while attracted to Creed, is uncomfortable and scared of her stalker. She hasn’t put two and two together but seems to subconsciously know that it is him. It’s confusing because she seems to flip-flop between feeling scared when she gets a text message or finds a trinket but feeling safe when a body is found. Even Creed picks up on the contradiction. It leaves you wondering how much of what she’s feeling is actually manufactured by the mate bond?
As much as I enjoy the storyline. Demi is winding me up. Is she playing or is she really this thick? How has she not noticed the way both her stalker and Creed use the exact same phrases? Or that they shows up at the same time? The fact it takes someone who hasn’t actually been in the story until then to point it out to her is a little bit annoying. She hasn’t even speculated that they could be the same person until that point.
The introduction of the “paranormal police” has changed the entire tone of the book. They have a great banter between them. I can only assume that there will also be a book/series written for them and that this is their introduction to the shallow cove universe.
During his time with Hell’s Harvesters, you begin to realise that although what Creed has done is seriously wrong and messed up he didn’t have a choice and he really couldn’t control the instincts of his beasts. He is willing to try and learn if it means he can have Demi, but only a little bit, there will be no changing who he is at his core. 🔪📹😈
After they reunite we again see that Demi may be as messed up as Creed, not only forgiving his transgressions almost instantly but also revelling in them. Even going so far as to ask him to continue stalking and drugging her.
An egg!!! An actual ducking egg!!! I thought I’d seen it all after this and then BAM sky sex, while in labour (is it still called labour if it’s an egg?), complete with free-falling and what seems to be at least ten orgasms.
It was a wild ride but I’ve definitely loved every minute. Not a one-handed read for me but if monsters are your thing I can definitely see how it could be. The only downside for me was that I found Demi a little bit annoying, it couldn’t have been more obvious who was stalking her.
