Seraph by Lily Mayne

5.0

Another win from Lily. I was most looking forward to Seraph's book. I mean first of all... the cover. Hooked already. Then when we meet Seraph in Gloam, I immediately needed more. It didn't disappoint. Oh and I've loved Lilac since the minute we met him through Ghost's eyes. So all of that to say, I was hyped for this book and it didn't let me down.

Lilac is a weirdo. Like, he's so odd and I'm obsessed with it. He does his own thing. He keeps to himself. He doesn't let people in. And yet, he sees something in Seraph. And we've seen him be kind and empathetic through Ghost and Rig's eyes. So we know that although he's a killer, he's kind, too. Seraph... I mean my heart breaks thinking of him. *mild spoiler*
Spoiler The twist near the beginning regarding his origins? Truly shocking. Did not see it coming. Also... horrifying. The way I gasped out loud and then cried... it really made me feel for Seraph immediately.

Watching Seraph grow and become himself again (or for the first time?) was so fun. Watching his relationship with Lilac grow was wonderful as well. While this story was a lot of sitting around, it didn't feel that way. It felt full of life and action. Honestly, saying much more will give away too much of the story because it really was great going into this book totally blind, so I just want to end this by saying I love Lilac and Seraph. They are so sweet, even when they (well, Lilac) aren't being sweet and are, instead, murdering someone (who does kind of deserve it...). 2/5 spice levels.
