Nero & Payton: A Match Made In Heaven! - 5 Stars
Coffee shop clerk, Payton is literally minding her own business in her apartment watching a movie when a gorgeous man suddenly enters her home from her balcony. Startled speechless, she's even more surprised when this man sits next to her on her couch and proceeds to join her in watching the movie and even helps himself to her popcorn. Not needing any more confirmation that the intruder is a bad guy, Payton complies to his strange request of not making any trouble for him. Both parties find themselves intrigued by the other and this strange event is what kickstarts one of the best dark romance novels that I've read in a long time.
NERO is a true dark Cinderella story... except the prince is a crime lord. But all of the elements are there. Payton is a struggling 23-year-old with a secret and Nero is her dark night, seeking to capture the only light in his sea of darkness. These two characters literally change each other, which is what I love about these types of books. The heroine becomes stronger, while the tough guys become softer. There was nothing that Nero wouldn't have done for Payton and her innocence not only captured Nero, but me as well. Their sexy scenes were off the charts!
This is one of the best stories I've read in a while, and I am going to binge everything SJ Tilly has written. I love her writing style and I cannot wait to read KING, the next book featuring upstanding-hottie-with-the-dark-side, King, Nero's best friend. I highly recommend this book!
