The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
4.0
4.5 stars
This book was very entertaining. The writing was exquisite. I was reluctant to pick it up at first, because of the mixed reviews on goodreads, but I am glad i did. It wasn't as dark or as shocking as i was expecting it to be, but the writing made up for everything. I loved how the story, in every chapter, revealed something new, something shocking, but as we reach towards the climax things become less and less shocking. The climax definitely didn't drop a bomb either, but the storytelling was so strong that it kept me ingested. The story is told from three different persepectives which makes things way more creepier.

The story is about a girl named Rachel, who has recently lost her job because of her drinking problem. she's embarrassed to tell her friend -who she is living with - about her job so she starts pretending going to work everyday. On her way to work her train stops at a certain stop everyday that is near to her old house. she likes to take a peek into one of the houses and make up stories about the couple living there. she doesn't know them but In her head they are the perfect couple. She even creates a name for both of them and idealizes their relationship. She vicariously live through their perfect relationship until something really bad happens that ties her into that couple's story.
Rachel is an alcoholic, she is unreliable narrator, you can't trust her and that's what keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. I will definitely recommend this book.
