A Kids Book About Suicide by Angela N. Frazier

challenging emotional informative medium-paced

5.0

I was a little nervous going into this book, as I've personally lost a family member to suicide and I find the topic to be triggering at times. However, between the soothing colors used and Frazier's gentle text, this book was like a comforting hug. It's still hard; it's a hard topic. But it's so much easier. I especially appreciate that Frazier acknowledges that some of the kids reading the book may be struggling with suicidal thoughts themselves and addresses them directly.

A Kids Book About consistently puts out the best books on the market about tough and abstract topics, and this one is no exception. They handle the topics with no sugarcoating and no condescension, while still exploring the content in a safe and approachable manner. The use of basic typography and colors to convey mood and meaning work better than pictures ever could. The color teal was a particularly excellent choice for this book.
